Course Dates: June 27-28, 2026

Duration: 2 Full Days (June 27 - 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; June 28 - 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Cost: $559.00 + GST

Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Format: 20% Demonstration / 80% Practical Application

Required Gear: Sturdy work boots and comfortable clothing (all shearing gear provided)

What You’ll Learn

Our curriculum is designed to take you from the shearing shed floor to a finished fleece through five core pillars:

  • Shearing Set-Up: Designing an ergonomic workspace that ensures safety for both the shearer and the animal.
  • Sheep Handling: Master the "dance" of footwork and positioning to control sheep of all sizes with minimal stress.
  • Proper Shearing Technique: Learn the standard long-blow patterns and sequence used by professionals to achieve a clean, second-cut-free fleece.
  • Equipment Set-Up & Maintenance: Hands-on training in adjusting handpiece tension and troubleshooting gear in the field.
  • Wool Handling: Proper skirting, sorting and packaging techniques to maximize the value of your clip.

Note: This is a physically demanding course. Participants should be prepared for a full weekend of bending, lifting and active movement.
